Kamehameha Butterflies are endemic to Hawai‘i. The Kamehameha Butterfly is the state insect and was named in honor of the House of Kamehameha, the royal family that unified the Hawaiian islands in 1810. The Kamehameha Butterfly used to be found across Hawai‘i, but is now endangered and rarely seen. More info on the Kamehameha Butterfly at the Pulelehua Project.

For Earth Day 2021, Mo‘olelo Murals participated in the beautification of Kalena Park. We planted trees and painted our public spaces with Kamehameha Butterflies. Kamehameha Butterflies are endemic to Hawai‘i.
